Hi,

I believe that there is no concept of OK> on solaris for X86 so we can troubleshoot.. Just try one more time.. A clean fresh installation with CDE environment after formatting the D: or anything assigned to solaris.

The best option I would suggest for you would be, installing solaris X86 on top of VMware. It would be usefull for you to practice or work on both OS at the same time... Just try else, go for it..

Pls what do you mean by cde environment. I know I can use vmware but shouldn't there be a way to dual boot successfully. This is about my fifth installation and i am gettin the same problem.

Okay buddy, It appears dual boot is what you prefer.

First, CDE is Common Desktop Environment (i.e) In simple words, a GUI which allows you to login with your username and password.

BigAdmin Feature Article: Multi-Booting the Solaris 10 OS, Linux, and Microsoft Windows on a Laptop

and

Multi-booting Solaris and other operating systems

Would help you on this I believe. Also, it deals with windows, Linux and solaris on same system. Ignore whichever is not required for you.

Let us know if you find any questions!

All the best,

-DB

Yes avoid interrupting your pc as if it were a pc when running solaris:
Get an UPS and do a clean shutdown before turning the power off...
