Not sure why your getting these problems but have you formatted the HD? Could there be bad sectors on the drive?

Yes the hd is formated. One thing I didn't metioned is that I started off with a clean HD Patitioned it to one partition and loaded win 98. Then I used fips to repartition and creaded a 10g partition. eather way I try the install weather I use the whole hd for RH or if I try to install to particular partition it still gets me to the same point. I don't know what is up.

Are the jumper settings LEGAL?

Windows doesn't care about these - but the BIOS and REAL OSs do!!!

Check which is set to master / slave etc.

Request more info if you don't understand me!

Linux seems to like it when the boot partition is the MASTER (when using EIDI). I suggest checking your setup and making sure that your hard disks are properly jumpered for MASTER/SLAVE configuration (as hinted above) AND insure that your linux boot partition is the MASTER.
