Solaris 8 and PCMCIA

Hi,

I justed manged to install Solaris 8 on my Laptop, the only problem I have got is that It does not find my PCMCIA card. I need it to find my card so I can connect the Laptop to my LAN.

I am using a 3Com LAN card model number is 3CCE589ET. This card work with Linux with no problems.

I am using solaris 8 with SMC 2.0 on a Samsung laptop.

So the question would be how would I configure hardware with solaris 8?

If you need any more information please ask me.

Thanks

hi , this is what a found on solaris on laptop:
3com ethernet: In trying to get the 3com ethernet card to work, it may be neccessary to create the file /kernel/drv/pcelx.conf
containing the line

force-8bit=1;

Additionally, you may have to disable the parallel port, if present

or try this for more

thanks for the info.

I have disable the parallel port from the bios, is that the right way.

I have also created the file in /`kernel/drv/pcetx.conf it still does not work.

I am new to solaris so sorry if I ask studip
questions.

Thanks
