Startup logs

Does anyone know if logs are kept of the startup scripts in init.d?

I am not aware of any logs that capture startup info. You could setup a script to capture the /dev/console during the boot process.

If it did, it wouldn't be very much. I don't believe they are setup to create output. Look at one and see for yourself. On my HPUX systems I only see an OK or N/A or FAIL when the system starts up for those startup scripts.

You would have to rewrite those scripts to generate output other than that.

By default, HP-UX should log the start-up scripts to /etc/rc.log. If your HP-UX system is not doing this someone must have fiddled with the /etc/rc.config.d/list_mode file.

Yea, I forgot about that. I have that logfile.

Even that is fairly sparce on information, but it is better than nothing.
