Network Card not recognized / How to save network configuration on a Slack Distrib

Hey there

I am a new user of the magic slackware distribution

I've already attempted with succes a triple boot (XP/BackTrack/SlackWare) today . (nice for a first day on linux isn't it ? )

But i have 2 problems with it :

FIRST PROBLEM:

Slackware does not recognize my network card (here is how i noticed)

Ifconfig eth0 ==> Error

so i decided to use lspci :

03.08.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 82562EZ 10/100 Ethernet Controller (rev 02)

then

ls/lib/modules/*/kernel/drivers/net

i have to say that the driver is not present (only the 82596.ko is there). So i guess i have to recompile the kernel .... wich i have no idea about how to do (anyone can help me ? )

SECOND PROBLEM:

My backtrack does not save my network configuration and each type i log onto my backtrack linux distribution , i have to type ifconfig balbalabal wich is a loss of time In my humble opinion

here are the results of my /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1 and .conf files

/etc/rc.d/rc.inet1

HOSTNAME=' cat /etc/HOSTNAME"
IPADR="X.X.X.X"
NETMASK="X"
NETWORK="X"
BROADCAST="X"
GATEWAY="X"

/sbin/ifconfig etg0 $[IPADR} broadcast ${BROADCAST} netmask ${NETMASK}
/sbin/route add -net ${NETWORK} netmask ${NETMASK} eth0
/sbin/route add default gw ${GATEWAY}

/etc/rc.d/rc.inet1.conf

IPADDR[0]="X"
NETMASK[0]="X"
USE_DHCP[0]=""
DHCP_HOSTNAME[0]="X"

lines ommited for brievty

GATEWAY="X"

DEBUG_ETH_UP="no"

lines ommited for brievty

Many thanks if someone can help me

I have searched on google for an answer but without any succes
