With so many diffrent flavors out there, how is a person soposed to know what to go with? I'm not asking for specific discussion here in this forum, but I would like to see various pages and articles dicsussing the pluses and minuses of various unix/linux OS's. I have been searching various places but have yet to find difinitive reviews of any specific OS. any healpfull links would be greatly appreciated.

Pick one and try it, is the best way.
The most commonly used versions I think are Mandrake and Redhat, BSD, Suse, etc...
I belive that it is mostly by trial and error until you find one you like. Most are either free on the internet or you can buy them for around $35 at a bookstore or online. Here is on you can download and burn with Nero or or CD Mate. Both of which are free downloads. Do a google search for each. http://www.unix.com/showthread.php?threadid=7903 here is a search of this site for download postings. http://www.unix.com/search.php?s=&ac...der=descending
