I am looking for an alternative. I am not wanting to try and run it using one of those fancy programs that can run windows programs. I am trying to cut the chord from MS so I am looking for good similar programs.

Any thoughts?

If there are none, then I guess I try to run it under Linux.

FP2K and Outlook are the main reasons I still use Window's. StarOffice has an HTML generator, but it is lame compared to FP. DreamWeaver may run under Linux, I have been planning to get some info on this for a while. Good to see ya over here Eric

I hear ya Chuck. I am useing KMail but Outlook Express rocks for me. FrontPage is also top quality.

Now DreamWeaver, there's a thought... I will email macromedia and see what they say.

Alternitive Frontpage

I don't know if anyone else has this problem, but I tried running both Bluefish and coffeecup on my RH 7.1 and neither would run. Bluefish just refuses to do anything, and the coffeecup installer doesen't work. Any other Frontpage lookalikes, or editors with same functions?

Question:

If someone is running Apache web server on Linux and wants to develop web pages (remotely) from a Windows 98 box, what is a good way do to this?

I don't mean remote login (ssh, etc.) I mean is there a cool way to run a client on Win98 that is doing cool things with remote web pages on Apache/Linux?

A cool thing is ChiliASP, by ChiliSoft.
It allows you to run ASP on Linux systems, or even on NT systems (for people who loathe IIS as much as I do) with Apache.
You can use FrontPage extensions with it too, so you can publish from a Win9* box to a Linux box via FP.

I've also played with a Cobalt RaQ4 box, that had Cobalt admin software and ChiliASP installed from the factory. The ad isn't kidding when it says that you just plug it in and start serving webpages...

We were trying to get rid of some of our NT/IIS boxes here, but sadly, we couldn't use COM objects without a software re-write to Java... big N-O from management
