need to know CPU utilisation

We have a Sun Sparc System which has multiple CPUs (4 Nos.). I need a command/program that can be used to monitor the % utilization per CPU.

Thumbs up

You can use programme called top
to monitor cpu. if your system have not got top installed. you could download top from www.sunfreeware.com

you can also use the following command to monitor cpu

sar or vmstat

the syntax is

sar 5 5

or

vmstat 5 5

the above will mornitor your cpu five times every 5 seconds

read the man page for more details

One tool I have found very useful is 'proctool' as it shows exactly how the load is spread across all your CPU's, i.e. bad single thread code etc. Again this is Solaris freeware....
