Any body any ideas i'm failry new to this so any help would be appreciated.

You should not have any problems if you are using Windows XP Professional. If you go to add/remove software, there is a patch on the XP Pro CD-ROM that says Unix network tools. Download this patch into your hard disk, reboot XP Pro and file tranfer should be possible.
