I am getting this email error now from a script (which I have not changed and has bee up for a while)

Subject: Cron <aquarank@fish> /home/aquarank/www/cgi-bin/cron/rerank.cgi

/bin/date: write error: File too large




What file is too large?

/bin/date or /bin/data (you talk about both and i'm not familar with /bin/data).

Question /bin/date
What would cause it to become too large? I have not changed anything.


How would I go about fixing it?

Looks like /bin/date is trying to write the data to a file and they filesystem is full, or you are over your disk space quota. Is there a system quota imposed on your disk space usage by the system admin?

No Quota
I don't have a quota - It's on a dedicated server - 9 Gb harddrive. Files are being written and deleted all the time.

Question Anyone?
This error:
/bin/date: write error: File too large

is written to the error_log over and over. I can empty the error log and open it back up and within a few seconds, it is written numerous times.

Anyone have an idea?
