First off all, I suggest the Linux Slackware 8.1 (current) distribution. You will really learn with it.

Slack have simple and power menu, and through the installation process simple delete those partition made by rh, and make new.

Btw, you have nice option to install everything (about 2 gb) if you are beginner.

After installation process, you have to set up things. (ask for help)
But when you finished that -> you know it, and your linux is working :-)

RH funs, no flame plz.

Ok, first you explaine what do you want to do ?
How do you mean "to format rh" ?
Do you simple want to delete this partition or prepare it clean for installation of linux ?

Anyway, through installation process of every linux distribution, there is tool (step) for manipulating disk and partition. So, here you can format, delete ... your rh ... Or you can use Partition Magic program for Windows ...
I sopose that you know that you have to make / (native) and swap partition.
As I see, you dont know what is slackware (http://www.slackware.com), and dont know what is distribution ? My suggest to you is to first read some basic documentation about linux and unix. In that aim visit http://www.linuxdoc.org where you have online documentation, and also you can download docs in different kind of formats (html, ps, pdf ...).
So, READ !!! :-)

Ok, boot system from win 98 floppy and start fdisk.
There simple delete non-dos partition, and that's it.
Although, you can use Powerquest Partition Magic program where you can also simple delete ext2 (linux) and swap partition.

So, first step is to delete those partition by Partition Magic or with fdisk which I suggest.

poz.
