I wish to install Red Hat linux 7.1 on a machine with 16mb of EDO Ram. When I enter the instalation process I am told 'You do not have enough memory'. Is there a way to install RHL with only the 16? Or will I have to upgrade and buy some very expensive EDO.

i beileve the minimum RAM RH Linux 7.1 can take is 32MB and the Maximum is 1GB. You can try run 16MB EDO Ram on Linux but without X (Only Console Mode). This depends on your hardware. I suggest if you can look for inexpensive EDO ram, try at eBay.com

16 MB ram enough for RH linux, if possible partition a larger space for swap, 16X3 or 16X4...

With Redhat 7.1:
- Minium is 32 MB Ram To use X Windows... - And 16 or low for Console... But I think: 128 MB is best |
