Question How to get åäö in e-mail message body

First of all: Hi all, i´m a new unix user and i´m swedish so please bare with me.

When i generate an e-mail on a unix server and send it through novell netware 5, i loose the swedish characters å, ä and ö in the body of the message, however they remain in the subject row.
What to do? Anyone?

What happens if you send an email to a local user on the UNIX system? Does it lose the characters then also?

What OS is this?

Since you lose the characters on the system that is creating the email, I would think that something (the program) is not seeing the different characters sets or the way the program was built it doesn't see use the character sets you need. Do you lose these characters in different programs or just mail (you might want to check this out as much as possible - it may not just be a single program problem)?

What version and type of mail? Are you using any special (Pine, ...) email client on the UNIX side? Any filters?
