How to connect to LAN on Solaris 8

Hi,

My network is DHCP and I am on Solaris 8.

Does anyone know if I need to configure anything on Solaris 8 in order to get connected to the network?

Thanks,

You will need to corectly configure the hosts, netmasks, defaultrouter, resolv.conf and nsswitch.conf. then run the command ifconfig hme0 or le0 if it show down then u have to create a file hostname.hme0 in /etc. vi the hostname.home0 and enter ur machine ip address and then run ifconfig hme0 plumb. Thats it.

Sample script to configure LAN access

Hi killerserv,

Thanks very much for the quick reply.

I checked and got the following details:

hostname: SUN
IP: 192.168.168.10
subnet: 255.255.255.0
GW: 192.168.168.1

Is there a sample script that I could run to configure this server?

Thanks,
noknok
