Thumbs up Samba Practice

I have a dual boot machine with both
"Windoze ME" and Redhat Linux 7.2. I want to know if it is possible to practice with the Samba Suite on a dual boot machine if I was able to incorporate using IP addresses. I was thinking if your able to ping yourself why wouldn't you be able to administer some networking with your own computer?!! Any info would be valuable!

Thanks

Sure, you can setup samba on your RedHat installation but if there is no other machine to access the network and shares, it is somewhat difficult to test unless you are using VMWare to run either ME or RedHat in a virtual machine.

When it comes to samba, I took the easy route and installed swat and use it for the administration of samba resources under FreeBSD.

Smile

Thanks

I'll try that I just wanted to make sure that I fully understand the Samba Suite because this would be helpful for the job market. If you have a url for swat could you relay it too me so I can get more info.

Try http://samba.linuxbe.org/en/samba/learn/swat.html as a starter. Google returned a bunch of hits for "samba and swat".
