CC Solution Required Urgently
Hi there,
My question is: If the command cc is executed on obelix, what executable file will be run? Using the results of whereis, which and any other commands you consider necessary, explain why this file is executed. Please help as soon as possible thanks |

This sounds like homework - which is against forum rules.
which cc tells you the name of the executable that will be run. The "weenie" with this is that cc also runs cpp and ld, but there is no way to know that from the commands you listed. You get it from the man page. ...assuming obelix has ld, cc, and cpp, which are all part of most unix implementations. |

I'm assuming it is an "obscure unix variant" as far as the person asking the original question goes. Maybe he/she had it confused with mobilix (tuxmobil) which is a linux for mobile devices -- I do not know for sure. I do know that Obelix is a comic book character. There is no Obelix unix variant to my knowledge. Asterix is the comic buddy for Obelix.

Curiously, the person asking "what is obelix" is also the person who asked the original question. We can't know, buddy; ask the person who gave you this homework in the first place. Maybe it's the name of a server at your school?
