Question shell to perl

hi all,
Can we change a shell script into a perl script instead of writing a fresh one in perl? Is there any utility present that can be used for this purpose?
please help me.

Thanks in advance..

I suppose you could use the 'system()' function in perl to encapsulate your shell script - would that achieve what you want?
