How to display contents of folder when 'cd' is used

Hi,

I am a new learner of Unix. I am currently working on a Solaris 8 machine. Earlier, when I use 'cd <folder name>' command, I am not only able to change the folder but also able to see the contents of the folder as if a 'ls -lt' command was executed. However, since a week, suddenly this behavior is changed. On 'cd <folder name>' command, I am able to change the directory but NOT able to view its contents.

Is there any variable that need to be set to some value. Can someone help me.. pls..!!

Thanks in advance,
Uma

looks very much like you had an alias such as:
alias cd='cd $1;ls -lt'

Type the above and see...

#!/usr/bin/perl
use strict;
use warnings;
use Filesys:iskSpace;

# file system to monitor
my $dir = "/home";

# warning level
my $warning_level=10;

my ($fs_type, $fs_desc, $used, $avail, $fused, $favail) = df $dir;

# calculate
my $df_free = (($avail) / ($avail+$used)) * 100.0;

# compare
if ($df_free < $warning_level) {
my $out = sprintf("WARNING Low Disk Space on $dir : %0.2f%% ()\n",$df_free);

Create this in a new thread and put CODE tages round the perl script to prevent the forums stripping out spaces

Edit: Ah, I see you have:
