[sos]How to resure my system.
Yesterday,I have a unnormal shutdown of my SCO Unix system,when I boot again,There are
lots of Errors (e.g policy manager error, ifor_pmd error etc.),Most seriously,I can use my "CC" compiler: when I compile my *.c files. Who Can Help Me ! Please Don't spare your instructions! Thanks a lots,Thank You |

Yes, I agree that it is the best policy to try all of the easy things first, like rebooting to single and running fsck. And checking the dameons.
That is my basic philosophy of troubleshooting. 1) Easiest, 2) least time consuming and 3) least expensive, in that order. Then possibly restoring from tape or other backup media. Lastly, a reinstall would be drastic, but sometimes necessary. ![]() |

If you are getting no response from the system, the only thing that you can do is reboot. When it gets to the "escape, break out" point that you can go to single user mode, do it. Then try the fsck again.
If you can't get it to come up you may think about breaking out that backup tape. Please tell me you have one! Or else this will be a re-install I fear. ![]() |
