Is there a way to tell how long does a shell script's execution take?

Is there a way to tell how long does a shell script(or a shell command)'s execution take?

Thanks. What do real, user, sys mean?
`man time` does not give any clue

BTW, I understand time can be used to measure command execution, say
time ls -ltr

BUT, how can I embed `time` in my script to measure the execution time? In other words, I want to record time stamp in the beginning, and calculate the total execution time when script is about to exit.

Exclamation DLL file in linux

Dear all,


Please educated me abt dll file in linux( I mean what is the replace of the dll for linux OS). How the exe files get shared data from mutliple resources provided by dll in Windows OS


Which file will take care all these functions for linux OS?
