Hey everyone, just to let you all know "I'm an uber n00b"

I'm connected to Telstra Bigpond's (Australian ISP) ADSL network, now I;m running Darwin 1.41 on an Apple Macintosh PPC computer.

I don't know how to set up ADSL on this system, can someone please guide me.

The Network panel in the System Preferences application (default location is /Applications/Utilities) controls the internet connection. Set the location to Home, and disable the analog modem in the drop-down menu just below the location drop-down menu. This should leave only the ethernet port(s) available. Turn off AppleTalk in the AppleTalk tab's pane; turn off PPPoE in the PPPoE tab's pane (unless, of course, your ISP uses PPPoE; check with them). In the Proxies tab's pane, make sure that all are UNchecked. Lastly, in the TCP/IP pane, select Using DHCP (this stands for Dynamic Host Control Protocol) from the Configure: drop-down menu. This process will set OS X to look for a DHCP server (your DSL router/bridge) on the ethernet port. If you have more than one ethernet port, make sure that the one you configured is the one the router/ bridge is plugged into. This is only a first-pass attempt; your ISP may use PPPoE (Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet), or you might be fortunate enough to have a static (unchanging) IP address rather than a dynamically assigned one. I know how to do that, I think you might have mistunderstood my original question. It is how to configure my ADSL under Darwin 1.41. Mac OSX runs Darwin 5.4 I think. I have no GUI and MacOSX not installed with the partition I'm running it off.

I did misunderstand. I assume that you know that Darwin 1.4.1 is derivative of BSD 4.4, so the IP configuration will be the same; the kick-butt networking stack is one of the very best parts of BSD. That being said, I'm sorry, I don't know how to configure BSD/Darwin for ADSL. Anyone?
