quick answer

i know by posting this people are going to get mad at me but, when i try to download unix for my Windows XP i find a whole bunch of files that i dont know what to do with, so please help, sorry if this has already been posted... or is a stupid question

What do you mean by "unix for Windows XP", do you mean "Microsoft Services For UNIX"?

Tell us what you are trying to download and from where and what you are expecting to get.

2. What machine are you going to put it on?

3. What implementation, Solaris, Linux, Net/Free/OpenBSD?

4. What distribution are you going to use?

3. OpenBSD

"Windows XP Home Edition" is an operating system, not a machine.

Are you intending a dual-boot solution?
