Question Restrict user access to their home dir

Hi!
i'm using FreeBSD 6.2 and hosting my pc to frens
in particular of sensitive information being saved to the PC, i would like to know is it possible for me to restrict user access to their /home dir. only?
and also, i wanted to restrict them listing files under /etc

thanks, that will require a lil bit of my times to read

2. can I restrict my user from using command like top, nslookup, who, whois, uptime etc using chmod way?

yes.... if you really don't want anyone except root to be able to run top you could do


Code:
chmod 000 /usr/bin/top

but that's a little bit excessive!

You may be able to do what you want with a restricted shell shuch as rksh.

have look at /usr/bin but they're not there
