Networking Problems On Linux

HI


I JUST INSTALLED LINUX 7.0 ON MY COMPUTER AND IT WIPED OUT THE WHOLE WIN2K SO MY QUESTION IS THAT I CAN'T .....MY NETSCAPE NAVIGATOR DOESN'T WORK (NO INTERNET AT ALL)
WHAT SHOULD I DO!... I HAVE A CABLE MODEM IP
I USE TO SEARCH THE INTERNET WITH BOTH BROWSER IE AND NETS..NAV.. NOW I HAVE NOTHING ON ONE OF MY COMPUTER RUNING LINUX.

first try to type with no capitals ;-p (or only used usefull).


first some small question what do ou see when you ifconfig (with this command you can see your network config).
if you see the right ip by the netwerk card to the outside can you ping to the gateway of your provider.
if that also works try to add an route.
something like route add -net 0.0.0.0/0 gw "gatewayip"

if you didn't see an ip then config your computer with yast
(suse) or netconf (red hat). then if you have an ip to the network card do the above

second what provider do you have. (if the above is not helping you).
