No difference. UNIX is UNIX and MAX OS X is UNIX like any other. The main differences are in the GUI.

MacOSX is indeed based on FreeBSD, touting the Mach kernel. The biggest difference that people seem to be finding (I know I couldn't get used to it...) is that the filesystem is case-insenitive... I interpret that to mean ls=LS=Ls...

It's got it's own differences just like any other two Unices would have, though - slightly different command / syntax, different FS layout, etc... You should still be able to adapt to it like any other Unix, if you're already familiar with it.
