Help with IBM 550 and HMC settings
I'm a Solaris and Debian/SuSE weenie, and I need some help setting the IP address of the remote web interface on an IBM 550
I plugged the port labled HMC1 to the network. The "network" is really a small linksys router that I use to test internet configs, as I can change the settings at will and not affect anyone. Anyway: While leaving the settings for HMC1 at default (dynamic, 192.168.2.147 255.255.255.0) I changed the settings of HMC2 to static, 10.10.10.111 255.255.255.0 10.10.10.1 , and entered 2 DNS servers which are not reachable from where I am. Now, I can't get a connection to either HMC1 or HMC2 (server taking too long to respond). I can ping both the static IP on HMC2 and the dynamic IP of HMC1, which changed accordingly as the linksys is serving DHCP So, the questions are: Am I missing something? Is there a way to set/reset the HMC IP configuration without access to the HMC GUI itself? Is there a way to configure the HMC through the serial console? Any help or guidance will be greatly appreciated. Last edited by System Shock; 06-26-2007 at 05:12 AM. |
