What exactly is the problem ? Any errors ? Mailx is utility for sending and receiving messages, it is started along with the respective MTA on the server. Again, my favorite question : what is the OS and what is the MTA ?

MTA is "mail transfer agent". Most of us use sendmail as our MTA but there are others. mailx is not a server. And I disagree with the statement "it is started along with the respective MTA on the server". mailx is a UA (user agent). It is started by the user when the user decides to read or send mail. There are other UA's around such as elm or pine or mh. A user can decide which UA to use and lots of users chose something other than mailx.
