Please search the site for 'unix certification' and you will find a lot of posts regarding this. In my opinion, a certification is not really necessary unless you are trying to break into the industry.

compTIA.org is a company that certifies students or professionals for the linux+ exam. im pretty sure they are globally recognized so check them out and see what you come up with
