Hello I have a mac os x server machine that I have setup a cron to run a php file using wget and cron doesn't seem to work. I have setup cron on other mac's before and they have all worked. Also I know wget works because I have tested it. Is there anything else I should try?
I do crontab -e and enter this:
"10 1 * * * /usr/bin/wget -q localhost/cron.php"
and I get
crontab: installing new crontab
chris:~ localhost$
So it seems to have been installed correctly. Any ideas?

to make sure that your cron is running correcly you can try:
* * * * /bin/date >>/tmp/cron.out

but are you sure about these wget ? on unix/linux wget need an URL and -q simply means quiet.

Alrighty when I do "* * * * * /bin/date >>/tmp/cron.out" it doesn't output anything. So it appears as though my cron is not working.... is it possible for it to be turned off?

cron could be dead. Or it could be hung up somehow. I don't know Macs, but on many versions of unix "ps -ef | grep cron" would tell you if it is running or not.

Actually scratch that, it is outputting the date. I did see the file cron.out when I did a ls, so I thought it wasn't there but after doing a cat cron.out, it was there. Any ideas?

"10 1 * * * /usr/bin/wget -q localhost/cron.php >/tmp/wget.log 2>&1"
and look at wget.log to see if there are any clues.
