Make sure you have the all of the latest CDE patches installed, especially if you are running Solaris 7 and NIS. There have been a couple of CDE bug reports on this issue (mostly in Solaris 7 and earlier) and the fixes were rolled into CDE patches.

Hi wizard ,
I have disabled dtlogin to run from startup so that the CDE never starts . Now the cosole login must atleast comeup , isnt it .. I was just thinking abt this . CAn it be possible that the foreground and background are both black , so that eventually i cannot see anything printed . Can i find out if that is wat is happening , and how can i change it .... Just a thought ....( i am running a Sol 2.5) Jai |
