sound cards
hey im having problems getting my sound to work, im running linux mandrake 8.0 and it detects the sound card but it will not play any sound if there are any ideas or slutions please let me know.-vassago

What type and model of card are you using? Also, what errors are you getting specifically? I had an aureal vortex 2 that I worked with for weeks under mandrake 7... One day it mysteriously just started working, but I found out later it was a freak thing that it worked at all. After the colapse of the Aureal company that card was left for dead by the community. I've since aquired an old SB AWE32 that works like a charm ;o)

sound card type
im using the sound blaster live sound card with the boston speakers. it detects the sound blaster live sound card and everthing but it will not play sound please help-vassago

Wish I could help ya, but I've since given up on Mandrake now in favor of Slackware, and I have no need of a sound card in that particular machine anymore. I'm sure someone can give you some ideas though...
