When you burn then burn then as a image or ISO. If you use Nero burn it picks it up and burns it in the format it should. I know I stuffed up once and Nero fixed it for me :-)
If they are a .zip, .tar, .gx extension well you'll have to un zip it then you can't boot from a zip file. |

Do you mean Solaris on a PC? If it's Solaris 8 it should be.
On Sun, they all should be bootable. Last edited by doeboy; 11-30-2001 at 02:53 PM. |

Solaris 8 CD's
You can get from SUN Microsystems site a free version of Solaris OS ver. 8 in zipped files. These files contains the ISO images of the discs used for installation. There should be the following disks:
- boot - installation disks - two disks with packages - documentation disks [english & other languages] The first one is bootable (at least for i386 platform). Each disk image is availe for download at www.sun.com, and you must unzip these files before you burn them wih your cd-writing software |

hi helvetica,
usually any pc with more than zero processors works just fine <grin> although you have to pay for versions of solaris running on more than 8 processors....
