I knew absolutely nothing about Unix until I grabbed FreeBSD and installed it on an old laptop. Later, I built my own system and am running FreeBSD 6.1 on it. I think FreeBSD is better than Linux because you don't just get a kernel...you get the whole ball of wax. I've had a lot of fun learning on my homebrewed BSD machine. So...I recommend learning one of the flavors of BSD for your Unix edumacation.
This is the best FreeBSD book I have found: http://bsdmall.com/freebun.html -- AV Last edited by Aaron Van; 12-04-2006 at 07:15 AM. |
