How to add patches to solaris 10?
I am seeking help to add patches to Sloris 10 on 64 bit Sparc server. This is to prepare the server for the installation of oracle 10g. Please list command and the directory (If needed). Thanks.

The command you're looking for is patchadd. See the manpage for details.
Also, sun provided recommended patch sets on their website. If you download one of those it will have a script you run to install all the patches in the set. |

duke,
Just get the solaris 10 patch cluster from http://sunsolve.sun.com/pub-cgi/show...s/patch-access once you get the cluster extract it then just run the install script included and it should pretty much do the rest automatically.. |

I have followed your advise to go to sunsolve.sun.com. Through patch finder, I couldn't find two patches. Then I went up to matalink to downloaded two patches(p3761843_10103_SOLARIS64.zip and p4163208_10103_SOLARIS64.zip). Then I used code like this: unzip patch_id 3761843 generated a cipo file and 4163208 generated a folder as 4163208. I used these commands to add patch 1. cd 4163208 2. opatch apply error message is opatch not found. Then I did this patchadd patch_id for 3761843. system told me it could find path //.. Could you please be specific on how to add patches to solaris 10? Thanks for your help. |

There is confusion going on here. The instructions we gave you were for installing Solaris patches. However, you said you got your patches from Metalink and they are named nothing like a Solaris patch name. That makes me think you are trying to apply Oracle patches, not Solaris.
In that case, the instructions we gave you do not apply and you'll need to talk to a database administrator about how to patch Oracle. |

You are right. I shouldn't ask oracle patch question here. Thanks for your pointing out. Last edited by duke0001; 12-11-2006 at 03:58 PM.. |
