Abnormal Termination errors

I'm having trouble with Abnormal Termination errors. What are they, what causes them and how can I prevent them from happening? Are they application specific?

What application are you running and what error are you getting like the error message.

This is a Utilities(Electrical utility) application called GIS.

The following is part of a debug file.
