strange ftp problem

I have got a strange problem on ftp ...
I am connected to a remote server through vpn and trying to get some autocad drawing to my computer.
I am using get command and trying to do binary transfer
Strange thing is I can get few drawings but one and everytime i try to get that drawing it will reset the connection.
Size is not a problem as I can ftp bigger file and size of this file is 96 KB.
Permissions is not the problem as all the files have same permissions.

I just can't get that file. Does anybody had the same experience or someone knows what could be the problem.

Thanks a bunch

Try putting the "funny" file in a tarball - a gzip compressed tar archive. Then ftp the tarball over.

thanks jim.. it did it this time and i tried to ftp the original file and it did that file too.
I forgot to mention that in ascii transfer it will complete the transfer but when i do the binary transfer before it was closing the connection.

It happened to me before whenever I ftp may file at one time it will stop at one file and disconnect the connection with error- connection reset by peer.
and one particular file i couldn't ftp . I dont' know what's causing that .. is there a limit on ftp connection or what ???

There probably was a special sequence of characters that was being intrepreted by some network component rather than simply being passed through as data. By compressing the file you eliminated that sequence.
