sftp

Hi,

I am trying to setup a sftp connection to the local host for testing purposes.
The machine is on a extranet behind a firewall which makes it difficult to test to other machines on the network as I do not manage to Firewall. I am just testing the concept for now to determine what needs to be done for scripting.
I have generated the public and private keys by using ssh-keygen. The keys in the /home/"user"/.ssh/ directory. I then redirected using the cat command the public key /home/"user"/.ssh/id_rsa.pub to /home/"user"/.ssh/authorized_keys2.

If I now sftp to the site then it still prompts me for a password.

Any ideas.

Much appreciated.

/etc/sshX/sshXd_config

in the file there's is a definition of how would you like it to authenticate: password, public or both.

Just one thing about that extranet system, since it is publicly accessible, try to get the sshd running on a port other than the default (port 22). Just for added security.
