network?
hi, i usually work with web pages, but my boss wants me to connect his Unix machine to our network. I have never used Unix before. I am going to research this on the web and books, but does anyone have a few steps on how to go about getting this machine configured to be connected to the Network? Thanks for the help...Jeff

What version/vendor of Unix?
generic steps: hook up physical (ethernet, probably) connection. Use ifconfig to set it up: ifconfig eth0 192.168.0.2 netmask 255.255.255.0 up route add default gw 192.168.0.1 The above instructions will work for Linux if substitute the correct IP's. Provide more details if you want instructions for a different platform. |
