installing fcg please help

I'm having trouble installing mod_fastcgi.so, that is I'm having trouble compiling it for a start.
it seems every time i use the apxs command I get these errors;
gcc: unrecognized option `-Xa'
gcc: unrecognized option `-Xa'
gcc: unrecognized option `-KPIC'
gcc: language ildoff not recognized
gcc: mod_fastcgi.c: linker input file unused because linking not done

on all the .c files.
can any one give me any pointers

I'm using Soalris 10 x86 version.

cheers.
Dan.

It looks like it's trying to use the Solaris compiler's options with gcc. Can you force it to use a specific compiler?
