What does this command do

Just wondering what does the following unix command exactly do??
Just trying to learn some material for my final exams!
Any help would be greatly appreciated
ls -al |grep "*.c" |wc -l >>log.txt

Here ...

This command:
takes long listing from the current directory including hidden files, then selects only lines of C code, counts them and adds the record to the file.

Get "UNIX Essentials and UNIX Core" DVD if you need learn this stuff fast, as such questions are prohibited in the forum, no homework is allowed, read the rules.
