I am a unix noob

Hello i am new to this forum. I signed up here really to ask one question. I recentaly got a old unix server from my work and i never really understood what unix is or what is does. Dont get me wrong i and very smart with computers as long as its windows, mac, or linux i can use them all but i dont understand unix. So heres my question i got a server what can i do with it at my home that would be worth my time. And remeber its quite old so i am guessing that unix has had upgrades since this server was made so if you guys can be of any help it would be greatly appeciated.

here..

hey... Linux it is another clone of UNIX, Mac is based on BSD Unix...
As long as you familiar with these two you can figure out what to do with a new one: pretty much everything.
you can set http server, you can use it as an extra storage NAS, you can make a customized firewall, whatever comes to your mind. In a case you have been working with graphical interface on them only, as I said more than once here, get "UNIX Essentials and UNIX Core" DVD course as it teaches the complete command line workflow. I still use, as it is very refreshing despite I acquired quite experience with unix family.
