How to launch Eclipse in Solaris 10

Hi people,

i just installed Eclipse on my Solaris terminal and i can't seem to run it. Currently i am using the SSH Client software to go to my Unix console.I tried to run the command "eclipse -vm <path of java hre>" as directed however i still can't run the application.

My Command prompt is giving me a command not found as it treats eclipse as a command and not the program to execute. I have installed Cygwin for my X Windows Server.

Could anyone kindly help me out here ?

regards
wilson

Where is the eclipse binary?

What is the value of your PATH environment variable?

Cheers

The Eclipse binary is sitting in a sub directory within my home.

as for PATH variable.Which particular entry are you looking out for. Sorry that i can't provide the values of my PATH entries as it will be against my client's security policy.

If you are looking out for the JRE Path, then i am using a JE found within one of path settings for Application Monitoring by Computer Associates

You can't login to a Solaris platform across the network using SSH and run Eclipse - if I understand you correctly. Wish you could, but you can't. SSH does not support this.

If you are trying to run Eclipse locally, that is another matter........ and is certainly doable if your java classpaths etc are well organized and defined.....

Hi Neo,

thanks for the reply. But isn't running a GUI application like Eclipse similar to running a AWT/Swing application from the SSH Client with the help of a X11 Server like Cygwin ? Please correct me if i am wrong here.
