How can i install Linux????

I use windows Xp, and I am going to format my HD and make some partitions..
I want to have windows Xp and Linux installed in diferent partions.
I want it so when my computer boots, I can choose which OS I would like to load.
I have never installed or used Linux.
so I would like to know if someone could tell me how to do this..
Install linux on a diferent partition after I have just formated my drive and partitioned it.

thanks

here...

If you never installed or used Linux (or any other UNIX) I would strongly recommend get Mandrake Linux. It is MUCH user friendlier than anything else. Second, if you will have a free partition available, Mandrake recognizes it and ask your permission to settle on the free partition. It also will take care of boot selection by introducing a boot menu of your choice. The process of installation of Mandrake is VERY simple, with all graphic, on screen explanations and instructions.
As you never used Linux before my big recommendation is to take "UNIX Essentials and UNIX Core" DVD, I'm still learning from it and it is indispensable.
