What is SDL?

I get a:

Code:
Requirements:
        SDL
when I'm browsing (www.happypenguin.org) for games.

According to wikipedia SDL can be:

Quote:
SDL may refer to:

* Simple Declarative Language, a language for representing data structures.
* Simple DirectMedia Layer, a cross-platform multimedia library.
* Specification and Description Language
* Trustworthy Computing Security Development Lifecycle, a Software Development Process used and proposed by Microsoft.
* Scene Description Language, the language used by POV-Ray
* Stanford Digital Library
* Soqosoqo Duavata ni Lewenivanua – United Fiji Party
where some are more likely than others. However, which one is it? I got an error because of SDL last time I tried and want to make it right before I try again.

(btw has it anything to do with my graphics-card? I'm using a laptop with a crappy one. )

Regards
Richard
