Red face FTP from Unix to NT

Hi Friends,
I heard about writing FTP script on DOS to get or put files from UNIX server. Is there any way I can write and execute FTP script on Unix server and put files on Windows box.

We have a requirement, where the shell script calls several programs and generates a file, the file needs to be ftped to Windows share(it is a shared folder on NT server) after it is created.

If we know the IP address of the Windows box , we may execute the script on Unix box. What if we dont have the ip address(due to some security reason in my organization). Is there any way I can mount the shared folder on the Unix box and copy(or put) the file?

Thanks for patiently reading my questions.

Ftp To Nt Box

Hi,

depending on the number of files and frequency of the transfers, you can use the ftp command from UNIX

ftp ip_address/server_name
enter the password required
type prompt
type binary
Locate the directory by using the cd command
mget <filename>

The above will get the files from a remote machine to the local one
use
mput <filename> to output the file from the local machine to a remote one
