Lightbulb Parameter from result of a script

Hi,

I have a situation where I need a parameter value to pick from a file can I use it in this way
File_name.txt contains names of files
a.jpg
b.jpg
c.jpg
now I want to assign the file name to parameter
FTP_INPUT_FILE=a.jpg for first run once it is processed we can delete onve they are processed...so that I dont have to loop it and then track it....
FTP_INPUT_FILE=b.jpg so on...
I can think of this....
FTP_INPUT_FILE=`head -1 File_name.txt` will this work???
and one more thins is once I process it how to delete the record...?
so once I process first record my file should have only 2 records
File_name.txt
b.jpg
c.jpg

anybody please help...

Thanks,

Girinath

Hmm, seems like an extra hard way to do it.

FILE=`head -1 [filename]
LINES=`wc -l [filename] | awk '{print $1}'`
tail -`expr "$LINES" -1` [filename] > [filename].tail
mv [filename].tail [filename]

FTP_INPUT_FILE=`head -1 File_name.txt`
is ok. Then maybe...
sed 1d File_name.txt > File_name.tmp
mv File_name.tmp File_name.txt
