Question Can't detect usb thumbdrive anymore

hey everyone!

i have a Solaris 8 box with me, and i had been using my usb thrumbdrive on it all the time. one day, i was in a rush and i pulled out the thumbdrive without ejecting it or anything. and now i can't detect any thumbdrives at all. i had tried using another thumbdrive, but with no luck. the thumbdrive works ok in Windows.

i have tried the following commands:

cat /etc/mnttab
volcheck
/etc/init.d/volmgt stop/start
cfgadm -al

but the usb device doesn't show up.

i had mounted my thumbdrive previously like that
#mount -F pcfs /dev/dsk/c3t0d0s0:c /usb

but now this doesn't work because Solaris doesn't detect my thumbdrive anymore.

i know, i know, i'm not going to recklessly pull out any thumbdrives anymore

all help's appreciated!

cheers,
feef

You might need to restart the process which autodetects plug-and-play devices, if there is one on your platform.

Is that the volmgt service?

I don't know too much about Solaris, could you point me to the service?

Thanks,
feef
