Oracle How to start a raw device?

HI,

I want to start Oracle on UNIX machine, now the , it is failing to startup because it cannot identify a raw device. Actually machine was rebooted and now we need to mount the devices, but i just want to know the command/way to mount or rather start/init a raw device. Please let me know.

The kernel usually probes all devices at boot time and places all found into /dev (unless a, say, USB drive is plugged in and identified by e.g. dbus/hal/udev).
If not found in /dev, your device might have a problem.

Oracle

Thanks Rudic, but actually the devices are all identified , needed to init them. what i mean was i needed the following:

/etc/init.d/raw start;

i got this info after a lot of googling and it has worked for me, ..

i knew it would be some command only but me not having lot of exposure to UNIX untill now, found it a bit difficult. Anyways, thanks.
