Question grep

I want to do a recursive grep. that is i should be able to search for a string in all the subdirectories under the main directory.

Read the man page for grep

It says
Code:
       -R, -r, --recursive
              Read all files under each directory, recursively; this is equiv-
              alent to the -d recurse option.
