telnet is not a registered protocol

I'm using firefox and I access a site which established a VPN connection to another site. There is a button which is supposed to log me into another system. When I click the button, I get an error window popup saying:

Code:
telnet is not a registered protocol
I do I register telnet as a protocol? Is it in the /etc/services file?

BTW, this is on FreeBSD (Freesbie live CD to be precise).

Thanks.

more info

Well. I checked /etc/services and telnet is listed:

telnet 23/tcp
telnet 23/udp

So I suppose I was barking up the wrong tree.

Could it be a browser issue?

Thanks.
